My baby girl had turned two months today and we were doing a mini photo shoot in my bedroom. I had planned for family pictures this weekend. I had bought these little stickers that had the months on them, and was snapping away with my cell phone. She gave me some smiles and others she would belt out a huge burp or cry. After I saw her getting agitated, I laid her down in her nursery and went down into the office. I had been thinking a lot about going back to work. I wanted to be a good wife and mother. Still, I wanted to have something for myself. My mother was an excellent wife and mother to us. The truth of the matter was that she didn’t have anything for herself. She was sick which stopped her from working, but I’m sure she would have loved to have something to show us she achieved.

Behind Zane’s back, I had reached out to my old supervisor about coming back. To say he was thrilled would have been an understatement. He tried to put me back on the schedule this week. Of course I told him I had talk to over with my husband and get his advice and thoughts. I also inquired about the head nurse’s position and he hadn’t given it to anyone. He had Tanisha doing it temporarily until he decided. I wanted that position so bad that I almost told him to place me on the schedule. I understood Zyair didn’t want me working while pregnant. I lost our other baby last time because I was working too much and too hard. I couldn’t take that risk with my angel pie, but now I wanted to be back working. I honestly thought it would help with getting some of this baby weight off too. I was losing weight from working out and breastfeeding. Still, I was in the house all the time raising my child. I needed to be working and it wasn’t about the money. We have enough of that; I just wanted be independent.

“What you doing, baby?” Zyair walked into the office with his towel around his neck and water bottle in his hand.

I rolled around in the chair facing him and smiled at my husband. So handsome, respectful and all mine. “Just going over some things. Finished your workout downstairs?”

He nodded his head and plopped down in the chair in front the desk. I knew he had something to say but wasn’t saying it. He kept looking at the file cabinet like something would jump out of it.

“Yeah, I wanted to take you out to lunch while Big Mama comes and watches Zadie,” he suggested.

I smiled and folded my arms in front of me. “So you think you’re just going to whisk me away from my daughter?” I stood up and he met me halfway, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Uh huh, I wanna spend some time with my baby today,” he kissed me on the lips and I giggled.
